“Hermes' Salsa night was at Valente's, Fenchurch Street. We were greeted with very lively salsa music, and lots of sangria and tapas. These helped loosen us up and get us in the mood for all that hip wiggling Latin dancing!

Maria Palmieri carefully taught us the basic steps: backwards and forwards salsa, rumba to the side, and finally a mambo. She made it look so easy while most of us had two left feet! She then helped us practice whilst rotating partners. After lots of laughter and some toe-treading, we did succeed in combining all the steps into a couple of simple routines.

Everyone had a really good time, even if there were a few aching feet next day. We hope Splash will organise another Salsa party soon.“

I would just like to say what a fabulous night it was on Wednesday. I really enjoyed myself and it was worth every bit of stress organising and chasing colleagues for money.

 

The Roberto Pla band was brilliant and they created such a good atmosphere for everyone to dance too. The teachers and taxi dancers were great in both the lesson and encouraging people to dance. I have had a lot of positive feedback from the 30 colleagues that attended with many saying to me when I can arrange the next Salsa night. Who knows maybe early next year if the Splash Committee let me!

* Originally from Columbia, I started Dj'ing at friends' parties when I was 16 (1991) and continued to do so until 1995

* Started Dj'ing at Unicornio Night Spot 1995-1996 (Brixton)

* Unicornio Moved to London Bridge and continued Dj'ing there 1997 -1998

* In 1998 also started Dj'ing for the Salsa Society at University of London and still the resident Dj there.

* Also worked in private latin functions such as weddings, birthdays christenings etc, and continue to do so and use my own sound systems

* Resident Salsa Dj at bar Fuego May 2005 - Present.
